A Summer of Fun Series: 100 Ways to Beat Boredom (1-20)

How many times have you heard that saying? That same long drawn out boredom that keep kids saying how bored they are doesn’t have to be! The prime reason for Summer is to have fun before going back to school. Let’s spend time with the family and make Summer 2019 count! So let’s get out the scrapbook and get started!

Everything at $0.01! Unbeatable deals selected for New Users on AliExpress!

 Make a scrapbook

Scrapbooking can be so fun. Make your Summer 2019 last by scrapbooking your memories! Remind yourself of what makes you special! Keep it going for years to come by adding Summer 2020, Summer 2021 and so on.

Tips: Find and old binder or a new one. Decorate the front by adding flowers, pearls, glitter. Put them all in place with a glue gun or you can even use super glue.

Visit the damn or a beach

Okay this can be very fun. Get a cool breeze by going in the morning. Walk along the sand, build sandcastles, and draw in the sand. Depending on what you decide to do. You can have hours of fun.

 Backyard or Park Scavenger Hunt

One of my personal favorites! Hide whatever you like! Spoon, chalk, colored rock, flowers, etc. the possibilities are endless with this but so fun. You can let them keep what they find or give a prize for the most found.

Tip: Don’t think you have anything to hide. Have fun finding things that are already in the backyard.

Examples:

Something Prickly

A Flower

Flat Rock

5 Blades of Grass

2 Sticks

Create an Icecream Bar

Kids love to add things to their icecream. Find your favorites and add them, no fancy bowls required, you can use your cups, small styrofoam cups, or bowls you already have. Choose all the family favorites or add more to taste.

Ideas for your Icecream Bar: Nuts, Gummy Worms, Sprinkles, Oreo Crumbs (any kind of cookie crumbs), Chocolate Chips, Granola, Dried Fruit, Whole Fruit, etc.

Backyard Campfire

This is one my favorite ways to connect! Ideas for Cookout: Barbeque, Shrimp and Crawfish Fest, Roast some Marshmallows, make Smores, tell stories, play charades, or just have fun talking

 Write a Book

Yeah, you can just read a book, but what about opening up your ability to imagine things not seen before. Express your creative side by writing your own story about you, others, or a fictional or nonfictional character. Tips: Need inspiration? Get some good examples to go by and let your creativity and imagination do the rest!

Have a Picnic

Picnics can be done in the park or in your backyard. Pack your favorites and have some fun.

Trip to the Park

Not just visiting the same park, but throw in a few other parks as well. It will fun to see the different playground equipment that other parks have to offer. You might even find a trail that you will absolutely love to walk on.

Write on the Sidewalk with Chalk

I’m throwing this in here because the other day me and the children took chalk and drew in the squares at our local park. This was so fun, but this can be done anywhere.

Paint on a Canvas

A good canvas can be anything. It doesn’t have to be a canvas that you buy from the store, but it can be something that you already have.

Tips for Canvas: Sidewalk, Patio, Garage Walls, Poster Board, Tri-Fold Folder, Old/New T-Shirt, an old unwanted wall art.

 Make a Family Vision Board

See the vision, now let’s put it on the board. Family Vision Boards help us see our future goals and reach them.

Tips for Family Vision Board: Future Vacation (Add how much money you want to save), Reading Goals, Activity Goals, Entrepeneurship Goals, etc. This list can go on and on, it’s your family vision board! Have fun with it.

 Spa Day

Set It Up! Fingernail Polish, Facial Mask, Cucumbers, Shea Butter, Lip Gloss, Hairbrush, Comb, Ponytail Holders, Eyeshadow, Mascara, foot massager, etc. These are just a list of things you can include in your Spa Party, feel free to get creative.

Visit the Local Library for fun Summer Activities

From painting to accessory decoration, the local library may just be the thing you need to get started for Summer.

  Make Paper Dolls

Paper Dolls are not of the past, they are the future. Remember when paper dolls where something that we made when we were younger (now giving my age)? Something that was just as fun for us, is just as fun for our kids, plus, it is not expensive!!!

Tips for making Paper Dolls So MUCH FUN: Make wigs, casual clothes, dressy clothes, shoes, paper dollhouse, paper town, add items, etc.

Make a Bird House

A birdhouse can be made out of popsicle sticks, twigs, milk cartons, gourds, plastic bottles, or even a teapot.

Make Wreaths

A little something new! Wreaths can be made all year around. Make wreaths for different holidays. Try out selling them too. Get a pen and work up your design or free style your beautiful wreath.

Tips for Wreath Décor: Fall Wreaths, Christmas Wreaths, Easter Wreaths, Father’s Day Wreaths

Learn About Different Cultures

What country would you love to visit, but don’t quite have the money needed to go yet? Well no need to worry, get a taste of the country by learning about it. This can be done at your local library or research online. Make foods from that country or even make something that country makes. Have fun learning.

Paint Rocks

Your babies are natural explorers! Get out and find rocks! Small ones, big ones, smooth, flat, and round! Have fun decorating rocks with blue, pink, green, yellow paint. Keep them and put them in a clear vase for decoration!

Family Cooking

Cooking is already something that we do, so why not include the little ones! They love to learn.
